What is Sakhi Comics? / ਸਾਖੀ ਕਾਮਿਕਸ ਕੀ ਹੈ?

ਸਾਖੀ ਕਾਮਿਕਸ ਇੱਕ ਮੁਫ਼ਤ ਵੈੱਬਸਾਈਟ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੱਤਰਿਤ ਕਾਮਿਕਸ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ, ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਲਈ। ਸਾਡਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹਰ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਬਾਰੇ ਸਿੱਖਣ ਲਈ, ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਪੇਵਾਲ ਜਾਂ ਐਪ ਸਬਸਕ੍ਰਿਪਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ, ਇਹ ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।

Sakhi Comics is a free website that retells stories from Sikh history as illustrated comics, made for kids and the families raising them. We believe every child should be able to read these stories without hitting a paywall or needing an app subscription just to learn about their own heritage.

Why did we start this? / ਇਹ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਕਿਉਂ ਪਈ?

ਅੱਜਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੰਟਰਨੈੱਟ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਸਬਸਕ੍ਰਿਪਸ਼ਨ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਬੰਦ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਾਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਕਦਰਾਂ-ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ਮਾਪੇ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿਣ, ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਜੋ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਵੇ, ਇੱਕ ਕਾਮਿਕ, ਨਾ ਕਿ ਲੈਕਚਰ। ਇਹੀ ਖਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ਭਰਨ ਦੀ ਅਸੀਂ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ।

A lot of what kids find online today is either paid, behind a subscription, or just is not made with Sikh history and values in mind. Parents want an easy way to keep their kids connected to Sikhi, in a format kids actually enjoy, a comic, not a lecture. That is the gap we are trying to fill.

Our goal / ਸਾਡਾ ਟੀਚਾ

ਸਾਡਾ ਟੀਚਾ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਹੈ: ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੌਖੇ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਲਚਸਪ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਆਉਣਾ, ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਮੁਫ਼ਤ। ਕੋਈ ਸਾਈਨ-ਅੱਪ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕੋਈ ਪੇਵਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ, ਖਰੀਦਣ ਲਈ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ। ਜੇ ਇੱਕ ਵੀ ਬੱਚਾ ਇੱਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਜੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਥੋੜਾ ਹੋਰ ਨੇੜੇ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਹੈ।

Our goal is simple: put Sikh history in front of kids in a way that is easy to read, easy to enjoy, and always free. No sign-up, no paywall, nothing to buy, ever. If even one child reads a story here and feels a little closer to their roots, that is success for us.

These illustrations are creative interpretations made to bring each story to life for young readers, not claims of literal likeness. We know views on depicting the Gurus visually vary across the Sikh community, and we respect that.
